What this traffic simulator does
This free traffic simulator models a 2 km highway as a live microsimulation: every vehicle follows Intelligent Driver Model (IDM) car-following physics with MOBIL-style lane changes.
You control lanes, density, truck share, speed limit and a work-zone lane closure — and watch flow, average speed, density and CO₂ update in real time.
Why the closure-impact comparison matters
Beyond the animation, the simulator runs a headless twin-experiment: the same road with and without the lane closure, so you see exactly how much throughput, speed and emissions the closure costs.
